Matt Roventini ’92, P’21, ’25 was a three-sport athlete at Poly. He played football, basketball, and baseball, and he was captain of the baseball team his senior year. The Rockaway Beach native played both baseball and football at Hamilton College, and he began his coaching career with the South Shore High School football team before taking over the Poly basebal l program in 2004. Since then, Matt has led the Blue Devils to 13 consecutive Ivy Prep League titles and nine NYSAIS championships, the wins fueled by lineups that have produced 50 college players and seven Major League Baseball draft picks. Matt was honored as the 2017 American Baseball Coaches Association Division 2 Coach of the Year and the 2009 New York State Sportswriters High School Coach of the Year, though he says he’s “more proud of the relationships I’ve built over the years” at Poly. Away from the school, he is co-owner of the Premier Baseball Performance Center of New York and the New York Phenoms college summer team (ACBL), and he counts cooking and carpentry among his hobbies. Matt is the parent of two Poly Prep students.
