“Language is a bridge and an art, an arch and a ridge. I love teaching juniors and seniors and witnessing their explorations and discoveries of the Spanish language.”

World Languages teacher Maité Iracheta, a native of Mexico City, has been teaching Spanish IV, Spanish IVA, and AP Spanish Language and Culture at Poly since 2006. She studied political science at Universidad Iberoamericana and earned a master’s in Hispanic American literature at Columbia University and a master’s in education and Spanish literature at Hunter College. Maité’s favorite Poly event is the annual Upper School Rienzi Poetry Showcase, which she curates. At the Rienzi, students recite poems in languages including Spanish, French, Latin, Italian, and Mandarin.
