Joshua Perez joined Poly Prep’s History Department as an Upper School History teacher in 2023. He attained a Bachelor’s in Sociology and a Master of Arts in Teaching History at Bard College. Born and raised in the South Bronx, Josh values community narratives and experiences that strengthen our understanding of people and cultures similar and different to our own. He believes that robust history education is rooted in dissecting historical sources and interpretations and drawing these sources to facilitate conversations around key ideas students grapple with in their everyday lives. In his free time, Josh enjoys reading, watching anime, playing video games, and going on walks.
