“In a traditional physics classroom, a student may be told to calculate an accelerating object’s displacement using a particular equation; in our classroom, students are active contributors to the process of uncovering the necessary relationship and developing the equation.”

Joseph Fallica joined the Upper School Science Department in 2018. He shares his own awe of the power of science with Grade 11 physics and AP students and says, “Teaching is the fun part of science.” Joe earned a bachelor’s from Hofstra and M Ed from Empire State College. Joseph wonders at the fact that in one academic year, students discover the evolution of science that may have taken thousands of years. He is impressed at Poly students’ ability to engage with the subject and their level of discourse with each other. Joe combined his interests in geology and travel by going to Thailand to explore caves during one Spring Break.
