“One of the challenges of teaching is that each year you have a different group of students with different strengths and challenges. However, that is also what I love most—each year my class is filled with unique personalities, and when you walk in, each year the class has its own kind of music to it.”

Grade 4 Head Teacher Garrett Kennedy came to Poly in 2013 as an Associate Teacher with legendary Lower School teacher Pat Morris as a mentor. He previously taught at Packer School and in Grade 3 at LREI (Little Red Schoolhouse and Elisabeth Irwin). Garrett plays a pivotal role in preparing Grade 4 students for the big jump to Middle School in Grade 5. He guides them through their study and research of American history, resulting in projects about Jamestown, Plymouth Colony, Wampanoag Village, and Powhatan Village. Garrett runs with his class during the annual Grade Four Fun Run. He watches with pride as they sing in the Spring Concert and cross the stage to receive their diplomas at graduation.
