Aliyah was welcomed into the Poly Prep Lower School community in 2021 as a Classroom Assistant and became an Associate Teacher in 2022. Prior to Poly, she received her bachelor’s degree in Theater & Performance with a dance concentration from Spelman College. She began teaching dance classes at the Academy of the Arts in Lithonia, GA before she moved to New York City. Aliyah worked as a Teaching Assistant at Steps on Broadway and Joffrey Ballet School. She also has experience as a Resident Manager for the American Ballet Theatre’s Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School. Her experience in theater and performance has given her a unique perspective on education. Aliyah is passionate about integrating the arts into her teaching and loves to see how creatively students can take hold of their learning. Outside of education, Aliyah is a professional choreographer and movement artist. She is a member of the liturgical dance company, Omega Dance.
