“My passion is to empower students to believe in their artistic expression, to think outside the box and discover that art is their birthright, and that the artist within grows as they are nurtured, with patience and practice.”

Adina Scherer brings over three decades of teaching art and photography to the Poly community, including higher education. She taught photography at MIT and Northeastern University. She has taught in public and K-12 independent schools in Massachusetts and New York. Adina was the manager of Youth and Family Learning at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, bridging art making and art appreciation for thousands of family visitors. Adina rolled out Poly’s new digital photography classes in 2019 and expanded the curriculum with virtual technology in the spring of 2020. Adina’s lifelong commitment to awareness of social justice is part of her curriculum and her classroom dynamic. She asks students to make art by looking at and responding to what matters to them and in the world as they build their art skills and passion as artists and photographers.
