Poly’s Middle School drama students excelled among over 150 students from New York State who competed for two days in the New York Thespians Festival and Competition. Drama teacher Jill Bolstridge took her Grade 8 Advanced Drama Class to the festival, where they won First Place Overall Superior in the one-act competition against high school actors.

Poly entered three scenes of “The Rude Mechanicals” from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the 2018 Middle School fall play. Niko Menegatos ‘23 won Best Performance by a Lead Actor in the one-act competition when he reprised the role of Nick Bottom. Additionally, Katie Lopez ’23, and Fiona Stephenson ’23 earned ratings of Superior—the highest rating in the state— in the monologues category.
