Each year, academic awards are presented to students who have been selected by our academic departments in recognition of the qualities of excellence they have demonstrated in the respective disciplines. We are proud of all of our students, and honored to recognize the students below for outstanding work in these fields.

Computer and Information Science

The Computer and Information Science Award is given to a student whose curiosity and learning often exceed that of our course offerings.

This award is offered by the University of Rochester and presented to an outstanding science student in Grade 11.

Presented to a Grade 12 student for excellence and service in science throughout their time at Poly Prep.

This award from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) is presented to the Grade 11 student who has demonstrated excellence in science and math.

The Gilbert Feldman Memorial Latin Award

Named for a former faculty member for excellence in Latin studies; awarded to students in Grades 11 and 12.

Grade Level Awards

Russell Trauerts Memorial Award – Grade 9

First presented in 1955 by Poly Prep’s Class of 1957; rededicated in 2007 in memory of classmates overtaken by events bigger than we were; and awarded to the Grade 9 student who during the year, has grown most significantly in terms of character, intellect and personality.

Presented to a Grade 11 student who has demonstrated intellectual leadership and made a positive contribution to the life of the school.

Presented to a Grade 11 student who has improved the most in the course of three years.

Sharyn Dolan Memorial Award – Grade 10

Presented to a Grade 10 student who has exhibited excellence in mathematics and athletics and who represents the character and values manifested by Ms. Dolan.
