Poly PM

With a wide range of opportunities to choose from, our Poly PM program is designed to engage Middle Schoolers and give them the chance to continue learning, build skills, and have fun after school.

At a Glance

• Poly PM offerings vary by grade level.
• Enrichment programs in sports, visual arts, and technology vary by trimester; registration and payment may be required for these offerings, see portal for details 
• Performing Arts programs extend from September to May; these programs are offered free of charge and have a rolling registration
• Athletics: In Grades 5 and 6, students may register for after school sport classes offered during the fall and spring trimesters. In Grades 7 and 8, sports teams and competitions are available to students.*
• Middle School Musical: Grades 6, 7, and 8, auditions required, rehearsals multiple days, performance in May

General Schedule & Buses

• Most offerings begin at 4:00 PM.
• All programs finish in time for students to catch the 6:00 PM bus. All Middle School students must be picked up by 6:00 PM or depart on the 6:00 PM bus.
• There are no Poly PM activities on holidays or school closure days.

* Athletic Teams: Teams and competitions are available for Grades 7-8 only and sports vary by season. Students sign up directly with their coach or advisor or via the Poly PM form and there is no registration fee. Find out more about Middle School Athletics in our family portal.

There’s something for everyone. The Poly PM program offers students the opportunity to not only study or do homework, but to also explore interests and try out new activities including enrichment in the arts, athletics, and academics. Read more.

Poly Conservatory

Poly Conservatory is our Performing Arts after-school music lesson program available to students in Grades 5-12, regardless of skill level. Kids may take private lessons in piano, voice, flute, violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion. 

For incoming Grade 5 students, we offer a program of free after-school group instruction in flute, clarinet, saxophone, violin, trumpet, and trombone. Group lessons are offered at no cost to the student.

Note:

• We do not offer free group lessons for piano, voice, or guitar. Private lessons for these instruments are available.
• The free group lesson program is not available for Grades 6-12.

Poly PM FAQs

• Can my Middle School student stay after school if they are not registered for Poly PM?

  No, Middle School students are not allowed to stay after school unless they are registered for Poly PM programming, Poly Conservatory Lessons, or have Poly Arts rehearsals or Poly Athletic practices. Grade 7 & 8 students may stay through to attend Athletics games, but parents must notify their child’s deans by 1:00 PM that day. All students staying late must sign-in with their deans.

• Why do different activities have different prices?

  Some Poly PM offerings are curricular extensions of the school day which culminate in required student performances. For these programs, there is no additional charge. The prices of other activities are determined by the teacher:student ratio and by whether the course is led by a faculty member or an outside vendor.

• How will I be billed for my child’s participation in a tuition-based activity that requires registration?

  Once registered, Poly’s business office will generate a bill which can be found in the Parent Portal on Veracross. Financial aid will be applied for families who receive tuition-based financial assistance.

• When must my Middle School student leave campus?

  Students must be picked up by 6:00 PM at the Seventh Avenue entrance unless they are departing on the 6:00 PM bus.

• What if my child registers for a Poly PM activity but does not wish to continue?

  Please contact Poly PM to share your change of plans after the first session.

• Will snacks be provided to my child after school?

  No. Snacks are available for purchase after school or students may bring their own nut-free snacks.

• Where do activities take place?

  Each activity has a designated meeting place. Enrolled students receive an email with specifics in advance of the first session.
